Often when I see a van, I can’t help but wonder; is this thing hiding something? The FBI spying on the building across the street? surfers, hippies, drunk musicians? Serial killers, dead bodies!?? Questions gets in heavy rotation. What could be happening inside of it, right at this particular moment. Are there people having sex? Doing drugs? Just sleeping? Empty, jam packed with a bunch of junk or extremely valuable items? Are they looking at me looking at them? Or there’s just completely nothing going on inside and I should go on with my day?

The Vortex is a very cool bar & grill located in Atlanta. They have two location, I visited the Little 5 points address. I had a good time. The rules of the house printed on their menu are quite entertaining. Apparently, so enjoyable that people started stealing them. I didn’t. You can download it on their site. Have a look, it’s worth the quick read. And if you’re around, go read it there. Massive burger, cold beer, pleasant staff.

As an international design competition, The Dieline Awards presented by Neenah Packaging recognize the best packaging design in the world. The geometry of the Nike Inflatables 2015/16 Basketball and Soccer ball redesign by OIA Global caught my attention as well as the typography works on Henderson’s Spiced Cider by Sand Creative and the redesign of Jack Daniel's Single Barrel Whiskey by Studio MPLS.
The HOW Design Live conference is a 5 days weekend covering a wide range of design and creativity subjects. From branding, packaging and interactive design to leadership, management, and entrepreneurship. The conference opening was a complete nightmare, I can’t remember experiencing such a poorly designed checkin process before. The irony for such a well known and respected design conference. Luckily, the excitement and inspirations received from the talks and presentations completely made up for it. With iconic creatives and brilliant thinkers such as Ken Carbone, Aaron Draplin, Josh Higgins, Tiffany Shlain, James Victore, Debbie Milman, Stefan Sagmeister and more.
